The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines – United Arab Emirates Chapter (IECEP UAE) held its 3rd Technical Seminar for this year last July 6, 2018 and was graciously hosted in Hotel Novotel Al Bustan, Abu Dhabi, UAE. The said event has once again ascertained the untiring support of its general membership with more than 100 participants, composed of PECE, PEE, ECE, ECT, Associates members and non-members across the Emirates.

The program highlighted three remarkable topics. The first of it was “Access Control System – System Planning and Installation” by Engr. Christopher Q. Acob, ECE. Engr. Acob is Head of Business Unit in Atlas Dynamic. He had nearly a decade of experience in this field, where, he handled mega complex security systems projects in both commercial and government sectors in the UAE. He emphasized how essential this information is to everyone in today’s set-up, especially in dealing with security landscape. He resourcefully provided some equipment to effectively illustrate the actual process.

The second topic was about “Organizational Development for Community Leaders” by a multi-awarded Human Resource professional, Ms. Sugar T. Espadera. She initiated her talk with some quotes from M. Shawn Covey, “An empowered organization is one in which an individual has the knowledge, skill, desire and opportunity to personally succeed in a way that leads to collective organizational success.” The atmosphere became an interactive discussion where one member was quoted that “he joined IECEP because he believes that it’s one way to develop himself and at the same time learn from other engineers in the field of Electronics and Communications Engineering.”

And the third topic of the day, “Behind the Scenes of Dynamic Lighting: DMX/RDM Overview” conducted by a Senior Projects Manager of Martin Professional ME, Engr. Brando P. Valerio, PECE. Engr. Valerio selflessly shared his knowledge and expertise in lighting protocols and modern lighting applications. At present, he handles Facade Lighting Project of Blue Water Island in Dubai where the biggest Ferris Wheel in the world is being built. In addition, his projects include the lighting of the Sheikh Zayed Bridge and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to name a few.

The event became more special with the presence of distinguished guests Hon. Vice Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil (Chargé D’Affaires, Phil. Embassy Abu Dhabi, UAE ), Engr. Elmer O. Casao, PEE (Bayanihan Council Chairman), Engr. Bernie N. Favorito, CE (PPO UAE Chairman),  Engr. Ronald Precilla (Bayanihan Vice President) and Arch. Rodel Ayala (UAP President). Vice Consul Daquipil delivered her keynote message and congratulated IECEP UAE not only for being world class professionals, but also for its continuous support and participation of the chapter to the Filipino community and Bayanihan Council.
