The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines – United Arab Emirates (IECEP – UAE) Chapter victoriously hosted its 9th Annual General Membership Meeting and 4th Technical Seminar for 2017 last November 24, 2017 at a technical school in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates aiming to continue the legacy of being a world-class organization showcasing excellent professionalism and competitiveness in their field of expertise.

 

The said event was another breakthrough in the history of the organization as its members celebrated its 9 magnificent years of being world class competent and globally competitive Electronics Engineers and Technicians of the Philippines as a foreign chapter. Moreover, the said event once again ascertained the untiring support of its general membership with 64 participants, composed of PECE, ECE, ECT, Associates members and non-members across the Emirates.  Warm opening remarks from Engr. Joseph Cabatay, currently one of the advisers of the chapter and 2011 chapter governor, welcomed the past and present officers, board of directors, president/governor and advisers, and everyone present in the gathering. He as well uttered words of inspiration for the chapter to continue the service that the group had started.

 

The program highlighted 5 topics delivered by various resource speakers in various field of expertise focusing on the aforementioned theme. A live video streaming had been broadcast in celebration of the 67th Annual General Membership Meeting & Convention conducted in the Philippines in which our Governor and Chairman of the Board, Engr. Analiza T. Binondo, had participated. Four of the topics discussed were from the said live streaming namely “Fiber Infrastructure Deployment: Delivering High Speed Optical Links for Data Center” by Engr. Dominic Marquez, “Railway Technology: Rail Signalling & Communications Systems” by Engr. June Lloyd Gopela, “The Power of Mapping : Breakthrough in Geographic Information Systems” by Engr. Lyle Anthony Jowill Villas, and “What drives the Automotive Industry: Current & Future Trends in Automative Electronics” by Engr. Ramil Ramos. Furthermore, Engr. Marc Philippe G. De Villeres shared his knowledge and expertise as the resource speaker of the topic “Overlooked Potential: Programming”. Updating one’s knowledge of current technologies and getting certifications greatly encouraged its members in attaining their goal of being a world-class organization of globally competitive professionals who are exemplars of excellence in their field of expertise.

 

It is accustomed that Election for the next year’s Officers and Board of Directors happens on every last quarter of the year. Thus, IECEP – UAE took advantage of the opportunity and was able to distinguish the 10 newly elected Officers, Board of Directors and Coordinators comprising of 5 members from Abu Dhabi and 5 from Dubai & Northern Emirates who will take the lead for the year 2018. Hence, everyone is looking forward for another challenging year of IECEP – UAE with its new set of leaders.

 

In line with this, two of the chapter’s pride has been awarded Outstanding Electronics Engineer of the year, Engr. Louie Mel Maliksi, PECE, and Engr. Ronald Esguerra, PECE. They have been an inspiration for our fellow members to strive harder in excelling in their field of expertise. Moreover, the chapter was awarded as the 2nd runner-up for 2017 Most Outstanding Foreign Chapter. Lastly, the chapter was given Special Recognition for the dedication and strong commitment as the Host Chapter last September 2017.

 

Indeed, another milestone for the chapter to get involved in giving continuous learning and career development to our fellow engineers and members by empowering ourselves, achieving our goals, recognizing our accomplishments and most especially sharing our blessings to our fellow. It is undoubtedly another triumph and challenge as the organization look forward for more blessed years.
