The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) UAE Chapter under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in United Arab Emirates, had successfully hosted its 9th Year Anniversary and 3rd Quarter Technical Seminar for 2017 last July 21, 2017 at a technical school in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The said event once again ascertained the untiring support of its general membership of 94 participants, composed of PECE, ECE, ECT, Associates members and non-members across the Emirates.

The celebration was formally opened by very inspiring and challenging words from our current president and Chairman of the Board, Engr. Analiza Binondo. Sharing how IECEP – UAE had grown and became a family through the 9 years of togetherness, she inspired and encouraged everyone to be part of the family of globally competitive professional Electronics Engineers and Technician.

As IECEP UAE commits to provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programs for all its registered and licensed members, two (2) Technical Seminars duly accredited with a total of 8 CPD points were given as part of the full day activity. The first topic was entitled “Introduction to Satellite Broadcasting” by Engr. Jefrey Barra – has 17 years of experience in satellite broadcast industry. He specializes in Satellite Broadcasting specifically in the field of DTH (Direct-To-Home), MCR (Master Control Room) and SNG (Satellite Newsgathering) Operations. Engr. Barra is a GVF Certified Basic and Advanced SatCom Professional and GVF Basic HOST Examiner. He has worked for different reputable broadcast stations and teleport companies like Sky News Arabia, Middle East Broadcasting Centre, GlobeCast Australia and ABS-CBN. Furthermore, Engr. Barra was effective in conducting the session interactively, engaging the members on the discussion together with his panelist, namely Engr. Bryan May Pelayo, a broadcast and transmission engineer and a former colleague of Engr. Barra.

The second technical seminar was delivered by Engr. Rafael Lontoc on his topic entitled “Fundamentals of VOIP Networking and Signalling”.  Engr. Lontoc having more than 15 years of experience in the various fields in which he held different positions including Equipment Engineer (4 years in Manufacturing Industry); 2 years as Electrical Lines Engineer for an MEP Design Consultancy and currently in an Global Technology Provider specializing in Unified Communications and Collaborations as Projects Manager doing Systems Engineering and Service Management discussed thoroughly the topic. Moreover, the attendees gained additional knowledge and further understanding about the topic delivered as his panelist, Engr. Ronald Esguerra, PECE – IECEP-UAE immediate past president and currently part of one of the largest telecommunications company in UAE, engaged in explaining queries during the question and answer portion.

In line with the technical seminars conducted, the chapter commemorates its 9th Anniversary, a celebration of excellence, commitment, and service. In such event, games and fellowship should never be missed! As part of the celebration of its 9th anniversary, attendees partook in the mini program organized by the team. Surely the members had fun and amazing experience. Truly upgrading their knowledge and getting certifications encouraged its members in attaining their goal of being a world-class organization of globally competitive professionals who are models of excellence in their respective fields. Undeniably, this major gathering of all Filipino electronics engineers, technicians and practitioners working from a diverse sector such as telecommunications, broadcasting, electronics and semiconductors, computer and information technology, oil and gas, power, military and more has manifested that we are One Family, One Profession, One Organization.
