The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines – United Arab Emirates (IECEP-UAE) Chapter held its 3rd technical seminar for this year last October 28, 2016 at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates with the theme, “The Electronics Profession: Key to Sustainable Development Towards ASEAN Integration”.

The program highlighted 5 topics delivered by various resource speakers in various field of expertise focusing on the aforementioned theme. A live video streaming had been broadcast in celebration of the 66th Annual General Membership Meeting & Convention conducted in the Philippines which was spearheaded by IECEP – UAE in participation with IECEP National and other foreign chapters. Four of the topics discussed were from the said live streaming namely “Biomedical Principle and Benchmark” by Mr. Joebert Kimatsuka, “How to Level up & Sustain Biomedical Electronics Field in the Philippines” by Engr. Garnet N. Danlag, PECE, “Technopreneurship for Engineers” by Engr. May Rose C. Imperial, PECE, and “Goal Setting” by Engr. Luis T. Lina, PECE. Though some technical difficulties happen during the live streaming, it was a success and will definitely improve on the next streaming. Furthermore, Engr. Jan Go De Villeres shared his knowledge and expertise as the resource speaker of the topic “Data Center – Converged Infrastructure”. Updating one’s knowledge on the current technologies and getting certifications greatly encouraged its members in attaining their goal of being a world-class organization of globally competitive professionals who are exemplars of excellence in their field of expertise.

Part of the event is an intermission number by one of the IECEP – UAE’s talents, Engr. Winston Estrevillo. Additionally, Engr. Analiza Binondo, current Vice President for Education, discussed updates and significant announcements concerning the future activities of the chapter and encouraged everyone to get involved. More importantly, Engr. Binondo elaborated on the processes and requirements for upgrading the members’ licenses. Also, special recognition was given to the recent September 2016 SPLBE ECT and ECE passers as well as to our PECE passers. Furthermore, Engr. Dionimar Mejia, current Vice President for External Affairs, announced upcoming events organized by the Bayanihan Council, a council which covers all registered Filipino organization, under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Abu Dhabi. Lastly, on behalf of IECEP – UAE, Engr. Mejia expressed a heartfelt gratitude to all the people behind the success of the event, the resource speakers, officers, and most especially to the unwavering support of the members.

Indeed, another milestone for the chapter to get involved in giving continuous learning and career development to our fellow engineers and members by maximizing the available technology and resources. It is certainly a successful event as the organization look forward for more blessed years.
