23Convention delegates, consisting of the Board of Directors, Officers and Members, from the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) UAE Chapter were at the 3rd IIC 2016 last 30-Sept to 01-Oct in Downtown Rotana, Manama, Bahrain.

Hosted by KSA–CRC and co-hosted by Bahrain Chapter, six technical seminars were delivered by resource speakers from different fields of expertise focusing on the theme “Achieving Mobility through Accreditation of Professional Qualifications”. One of the speakers was Engr. Lloyd Allen Ondona, 2014-2015 IECEP UAE President and Chapter Governor, discussed the topic on ‘Optical Transport Network’ concept and applications in Telecoms field.

The event was graced by Philippine Ambassador in Bahrain – Hon. Alfonso A. Ver with a welcome message to the guests and participants from the IECEP Foreign Chapters in Bahrain, KSA – Central Region, KSA – Eastern Region, KSA – Western Region, Qatar and UAE.

Dignitaries from the Philippines were also present which consists of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Electronics Engineering Hon. Alnar L. Detalla – Chairman, Hon. Enrico Claro R. Delmoro, and Hon. Herminio J. Orbe; the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) Engr. Federico A. Monsada – Chairman, Engr. Romulo R. Agatep – Country Registrar; supported by IECEP National President and Chairman Engr. Jose Carlos P. Reyes and former National Presidents: (2014) Dr. May Rose C. Imperial and (2010-2011) Engr. Ornan S. Vicente.

The highlight of the convention was the formation of the IECEP GCC Council, renaming and restructuring the now existing IIC board. As agreed upon, the governance of the GCC Council, will be coming from the current Chapter Governors of each of the IECEP member chapters in the Middle East which are: Bahrain, KSA – Central Region, KSA – Eastern Region, KSA – Western Region, Qatar and UAE. Also, the Chairmanship of the GCC Council and the Convention Chairman is given to the convention host chapter for that year.

With the representation of the IECEP National President, PRC, PTC and Past Chapter Governors, the new set of governing officers for the GCC Council took the Oath of Office and signed the Council’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Led by the IECEP UAE Chapter which was elected as 2017 GCC Council Chairman and host of the 4th IECEP GCC Summit in 2017, it will be headed by Engr. Ronald Esguerra, current IECEP UAE Chapter Governor and President.

The appointed advisers of the GCC Council are Engr. Jose Carlos P. Reyes, PECE, MBA, IECEP National Chairman and President; Engr. Romulo R. Agatep, PECE, APEC, ASEAN Engr.,FAAET; Engr. Mario A. Balboa, PECE, FACPE, ACPE, ASEAN Engr., IECEP KSA-CRC Founding President and Chapter Governor; and Engr. Jethroefel E. Ramboyong, PECE, IECEP UAE Founding President and Chapter Governor and IIC2016 Chairman of the Board.

Also, as PRC officials were in Bahrain, a total of eight aspiring PECE and one ASEAN Engineer applicant from UAE completed their documentation and had undergone a panel interview hoping for a positive result that will be released end of this month.
